Western red cedar rough sawn cedar boards and posts can be custom-styled for a truly distinctive appearance, such as the gentle slopes of convex and concave styles. 1×4 and 1×6 boards, 2×4 rails, 4×4 and 6×6 posts are available in standard sizes.

Western red cedar boards have flat tops with notched sides. Design your own landscape look from solid panels to spaced boards. Available in 1x4x4 to 1x6x8 boards; 2×4 rails in 8′ and 10′ lengths; 4×4 posts in 6′ to 12′ lengths.

Western Red Cedar
This species of lumber is best for any type of board or picket fence – as long as the bottom of the fence is not continually touching the ground. Cedar is a very stable wood. It does not warp, shrink, or check (as pressure treated pine most likely will do eventually). Pressure-treated (PT) pine boards can warp and shrink as quickly as one month after installation. A fence using cedar boards will have a much nicer appearance after 10 years compared to a pressure treated pine board fence.
Our cedar usually comes from British Columbia, Washington state, and Oregon state. It can be 50-80 years old. Cedar lumber costs more than the fast-grown southern yellow pine, but it is well worth the extra expense. Cedar could last 30 years or more and will stay straight!
